pairing my samsung bluetooth stereo headset to my samsung jetset phone?

i'm having trouble pairing my samsung jetset schr500 from cricket to my samsung bluetooth stereo headset sbh500. i believe i've put the headset in pairing mode ok but my phone won't pick it up. i'm also wondering if the hedset being from alltel and the phone from cricket has anything to do with it.i've tried contacting samsung but the model # i have from the headset doesn't match any they provide. if you can help that would be great.
