How to Upgrade Your Samsung Moment to Android 2.1 Platform

The Samsung Moment is a highly capable and functional phone on the Android market. With its sleek and convenient styling, the phone can provide plenty to do for any user. Owners of this device have felt a bit limited with the phone on the Android 1.5 platform. Until recently, consumers that owned the Samsung Moment had to visit their nearest Sprint retailer and get the Android 2.1 update done on-site.  However, there were owners that also didn't think that the update was significant enough to wait in line to get the update installed or simply didn't have the patience. This article is written specifically for the owner that would rather take a shot at updating the phone themselves. The process is relatively simple and does not take up a lot of time.

The first thing we need is to get our hands on the bundle of instructions and software that is needed to perform this update. There are two PDF instruction links and one download link you will need to pull this off. If you have had your Samsung Moment connected to your computer by the USB cable, more than likely, drivers for the device have been installed on your computer. Those installed drivers, unfortunately, will have to be removed from your computer. Below are the three links mentioned earlier that you will need for the Android 2.1 update:

Once all documents and software have been downloaded, you are ready to begin the update for your phone. Read the instructions for removal of the existing drivers from your computer first. Next, you will want to read over the documentation for updating your Moment before installing the software onto your computer. This gives you the opportunity to become familiarized with the process when installing the software as you are following the onscreen instructions given by the software.

You will have to ensure that anything you want to back up from your phone is stored on the SD card. Your phone itself will be wiped completely clean. Don't let this make you afraid of completing the update. You will appreciate the new things your phone can do after the update. Once the update is complete, you will be able to recover your contacts by simply logging back into your Google account. Your update is now complete. Return to the Android Market to reinstall your applications.
