laptop touch pad problem...?

on my samsung r510 vista laptop my touchpad has stopped working. i don't thin its a driver problem, it seems to be installed, but when i got to control panel-system-drivers and mouse it isn't there.i looken in programs and it is there.its never had a problem before and i didn't change any settings. instead tablet PC input panel appears. my laptop isn't even tablet. when i close it it doesn't close,just floats to the side of the screen. i have tried closing it with task manager and it reopens instantly. any help?
oh, and how do i close tablet input system?

Have you downloaded any drivers recently from the Windows site? the most recent one was for a touchscreen which mainly messes up the PS/2 driver so that anything connected to it won't work, people have reported their mouse no longer works after installing so may affect touchpads too. If so then you can either use system restore or google IdeaCom Technology Inc. - Input - IdeaCom HID Touch Screen (PS/2) which is the offending driver & that should give you details of how to remove it.
Sorry can't offer any advice as to your other question.
