I am studying abroad in England. What Camera should I buy?

I am studying abroad in Wolverhampton, England this spring semester. I leave on the 19th just in case your curious. I have a camera right now. It's a samsung and it's okay. Its just your crappy college camera. I would like to buy a nicer camera. I want a nice zoom, mega-pixels and it must be easy to use! I am willing to pay up to 300 dollars. It also needs to be light enough for it to not be a hassle when I travel. I do like professional cameras, like the ones with really elaborate zoom features. I would like to have the feature where you can time the picture and then the camera takes it. Also, a camera that can take black and white pictures...I can give and take on some of these requirements...I really would just like some ideas....???
Oh, and I guess I should be really clear about the fact that I dont know much about cameras. I just know the higher the pixels the better the picture...I know...sad..lol

Based upon your knowledge of cameras, you will be happy with one of the new sub $250 P&S cameras. Nikon, Casio, Panasonic, Pentax, Canon and Fujifilm all make good cameras that will even use the same card you have been using in your Samsung

And there are other things much more important than the pixel count on the cameras sensor ... it is just easier for the marketing folks to sell cameras based upon a number that sounds good.

When it comes to sensors the size of the camera has more to do with its ability to produce good images is much more important than the number of pixels.

Be sure you get the camera in plenty of time so you can learn to use it and check for any warranty issues before you head to the UK.

Despite the importance of the chaebol to the rapid postwar development of the Korean economy, little has been written about their origins during the Japanese occupation. Through case studies of local ownership in major financial, commercial and industrial ventures, this book provides a detailed picture of indigenous capitalism during Japanese colonization.
